Come to the 16th Annual Snow Goose Festival of the Pacific Flyway!

Festival Dates:
Wednesday-Sunday, January 21-25, 2015

Birders and nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend the 16th Annual Snow Goose Festival, one of the premier birding events in California. This action-packed 5-day event celebrates the millions of waterfowl migrating along the Pacific Flyway that call the Northern Sacramento Valley their home during the winter months. It also gives our local community an opportunity to rediscover the abundant treasures the North State has to offer all year round, from wholesome foods and delectable wines to inspirational artists and gifted musicians. And with the wide variety of engaging youth activities, there truly is something for everyone at the Snow Goose Festival!

Keynote Speaker

Scott Weidensaul

Renowned naturalist and author, Scott Weidensaul, joins the Festival this year as our Keynote Speaker at the "Gathering of Wings” Banquet & Silent Auction on Saturday evening. Scott will explore the wonder and mechanics of bird migration and share his research, experiences, insights and the simple, effective ways we can preserve our feathered friends. Don’t miss this special event!

Field Trips and Workshops

Our festival is located in an amazingly diverse area, with habitats that include rivers and wetlands, sweeping plains and grasslands, rolling foothills, sheltered canyons and mountain peaks. Attendees can choose from over 60 field trips and workshops that are sure to please a wide variety of interests and ability levels. In addition to numerous bird-watching field trips for waterfowl, raptors and songbirds, you might choose to take a guided tour of a nature preserve, visit a local vineyard, or hike the scenic Sutter Buttes in search of lofty views and resident wildlife.

Our workshops offer something for everyone! Learn about nature photography, how to sketch in nature, bird carving, how to record nature sounds, how to identify those backyard birds, and much more. Free nature activities are offered for children, as well as armchair adventures for the less hardy.
