Journey into Willow Bend, a 200-acre private property along the Sacramento River in Colusa County. This is a rare opportunity to access this property, which is limited to guided trips. Chico-based River Partners owns the property, which has been the site of native grass restoration. The property has also received funding for an innovative floodplain reconnection project to provide rearing habitat for juvenile salmon. We'll hike the property, enjoy the river, and see some great birds. Some past sightings have included Peregrine Falcon, Ferruginous Hawk, Barrow's Goldeneye, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and White-throated Sparrow. Bring snacks, water and binoculars.
Michael Rogner is a riparian ecologist for River Partners and has worked on the Sacramento River since 2003. He has designed and implemented over 2,000 acres of riparian restoration projects throughout California and Nevada.
