Description

This trip focuses on identifying and comparing wintering raptors across the agricultural and grassland areas north of Oroville. After regrouping at Monument Hill, we will follow a loop of rural roads including Wilbur Road and Nelson Road, with additional stops as conditions and bird activity allow. Potential species include Red-tailed Hawk (multiple morphs), Northern Harrier, American Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Merlin, Prairie Falcon, Ferruginous Hawk, and Bald Eagle. Most viewing will be from the roadside with opportunities to step out for scope work. Carpooling strongly encouraged.
